Mess, Stress & Overwhelm; Learning to embrace Life with all its Imperfections is a one-day workshop designed to offer anyone with a leadership role / responsibility new content, space and time to refocus on what is essential in their work and life with a view to increasing their chances of success across the board.

Some of the things we all share in common are the experience of stress, strain, things not working out as expected and a sense of being overwhelmed by all we have to do in life.
The irony is that one of the things that gets in the way of living a wholehearted and joyful life is our reluctance to talk about the things that go wrong, our fear of others knowing that we don’t always feel up to the task and a desire to seem like everything is perfect!
In an honest, lively and engaging day, Carol Conway (see bio below) will share her thoughts – drawn both from research and experience – along with some insights into things that may help with the experience of mess, stress and overwhelm.

Learning Outcomes

As with any of the Positive Leadership days, participants can expect to come away refreshed, refocused and re-energised.
In addition, on this occasion, participants will:
  • Understand the value of being more open about the things we struggle with
  • Have practical tools for reducing the experience of stress and for reframing the impact of stress
  • Explore the connection between our thinking style and the experience of being overwhelmed
  • Know how to reduce overwhelm in simple, practical ways.

Facilitator: Carol Conway

Carol is a lifelong Behavioural Scientist with a passionate interest in human dynamics and a fundamental belief in people.  Her work revolves around assisting individuals and organisations to achieve more of their potential.  On any given day that can include training, facilitation, leadership development or coaching.
Carol’s mission in life is to share information so that those she works with can achieve more; personally, professionally and organisationally. Carol also designed and co-ordinated the Young Community Leaders project for the Northside Partnership from 2010 - 2015 which produced 125 young leaders over five years who are all working to make their community a better place. Since she works almost exclusively within the Voluntary and Community sector, Carol sees the value of her work as being better outcomes for Irish society.

Feedback from Participants at Carol Conway's Previous Leadership Events for The Wheel

"Carol is an excellent facilitator, really engaging, motivating and importantly, honest. What I enjoyed most about this training was the focus on positive visualisation and re-framing how we communicate internally with ourselves and the impact this can have on our external activities". - J. Murphy, Trócaire
"I have attended Carol's sessions before and always come away re-charged, refreshed and with an updated tool kit for use". - P. Cleary, Housing Association for Integrated Living
"I found this opportunity to think about the leadership and management of the organisation from fresh angles, hearing from those who had great experience and having the chance to talk together about approaches and solutions was hugely refreshing and inspiring."

Who Should Attend:

This is an essential event for all managers and leaders in the Irish community and voluntary sector.
