Meet The Wheel Kerry 5 Oct

This is a special networking and information sharing session for community and voluntary organisations with Niall Walshe, The Wheel Regional Champion for Cork, Waterford and Kerry and other members of The Wheel team. Find out how The Wheel can support you with advice on managing your costs, services and promoting active citizenship.

Participants will learn about The Wheel Regional Support Programme, and the range of services and supports available from The Wheel.

This is a free event for all community and voluntary organisations in Kerry, Cork and Waterford. Registration is a must. Book your place online here.
Course details: 

This two and half hour interactive forum is an opportunity to learn about The Wheel's Regional Support Programme, meet our Regional Champion for Cork, Waterford and Kerry, Niall Walshe, and to hear about how community, voluntary and charitable organisations can get the most from the services offered by The Wheel.

Participants can also look forward to networking, and renewing acquaintances, with other community and voluntary organisations.

Learning Outcomes

  • Active Citizenship:Increased awareness of what The Wheel and organisations regionally are doing to promote participation in public life, the challenges involved and supports required in order to advocate, nurture and embody active citizenship.
  • The Wheel Supports: Presentation and discussion on what our organisation can do for you in your area.
  • Managing Costs: Information on how The Wheel can support Non-profits to reduce their overheads through the Resource Point service
  • Networking: Meet acquaintances old and new and learn about The Wheel Regional Support Programme and the role of the Regional Champion for Cork, Waterford and Kerry.

Participants will also have the opportunity to share - with each other and The Wheel - the issues they face and the supports needed to do their work better.

Johnny Sheehan, Membership & Regional Coordinator, The Wheel

Johnny Sheehan joined The Wheel as Membership and Regional Johnny SheehanCoordinator. The main focus of his work is to drive the development, presence and participation in The Wheel’s programmes regionally, support the work of the National Rural Network and to support member engagement in The Wheel.
 
Johnny has more than 20 years’ experience working in the development, youth work and environmental sectors. He worked with Dóchas as Project Coordinator for the European Year for Development 2015 and with the National Youth Council of Ireland as Development Education Programme Coordinator from 2004 to 2012.
 
He was chairperson of Comhlámh from 2013-2016. He has a background in Environmental Science and worked as a volunteer in Central America during the 1990s.
 

Danielle Martin, Policy Officer, The Wheel

Danielle Martin joined The Wheel in September 2016 as Policy Officer working Danielle Martindirectly with the Director of Public Policy.
 
Danielle is responsible for driving the on-going development, implementation and evaluation of The Wheel’s Active Citizenship programme researching, analysing and preparing policy position statements, papers and publications relevant for The Wheel’s members and our public policy work on their behalf.
 
Danielle joins us after spending the last five years working as a Political Advisor in Dáil Éireann and previously working in campaigning and advocacy with Front Line Defenders. She has a degree in Politics and a Masters in Law from Queen’s University Belfast.
