The second Charity Finance Managers Community of Interest Forum of 2017, this latest event is designed to provide member with the most stimulating inputs and insights, along with facilitated networking and on-going targeted support.

In particular you can look forward to:

  • A facilitated discussion on key issues facing financial leaders in the community, voluntary and charity sector in Ireland. 

  • An opportunity to access peer-to-peer support and learning from the experiences of others.

  • This discussion and the issues it raises will help to shape the format and topics for the other forthcoming Finance Community of Interest meetings.

About The Wheel's Community of Interest Initiative

This event is part of a wider initiative of The Wheel which provides facilitated opportunities for the most senior staff, CEO's and board members of communities of interest to come together. Through these Communities The Wheel will keep our members informed, enabling a space for discussion & networking; and to feed into the public policy agenda for The Wheel when relevant.



Tony Ward, Director of Finance, The Wheel

Tony studied accountancy after completing his BComm in UCD in 1985. He qualified in 1989 and subsequently worked in Deloitte for a couple of years. Tony WardHe was diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa, an inherited degenerative eye condition for which there is no treatment, in September 1994.
Very shortly after his diagnosis, he came into contact with Fighting Blindness, which was set up in 1983 as a support group by families affected by blindness. Tony worked on a consultancy basis for most of the late 1990s and into the early 2000s. In 2003, having previously worked with an organisation that had received EU funding for an employment initiative, he joined a company as a finance co-ordinator for an EU-funded programme in Ireland that diverted money to various projects.
