Private Sector Comparator Data Released for 2022 Pay & Benefits Report
In November 2022, with the Community Foundation Ireland, The Wheel published the fifth edition of the National Guide to Pay and Benefits in Community, Voluntary and Charitable Organisations.
We also held a timely and valuable discussion on current HR challenges and how this research can support organisations in overcoming these.
See link to the research and the event recording here.
Comparator Data
An additional piece of this valuable research is the comparator data with the private sector, which has recently been published. We invite you to read and download this report here.
This comparator data includes rates of pay for the private sector from the IBEC Manufacturing & Wholesale Distribution Sectors Pay Survey, 2022. This IBEC report is useful for comparison purposes, because it represents a broad range of companies in the private sector.
It is important to note, however, when considering pay comparisons between the private sector and the community, voluntary and charitable sector that:
-
There are only a small number of cases for a number of the job titles in this data. It is also not clear that ‘like’ is being compared with ‘like’ when looking at these groups of figures as there is no data available outlining the responsibilities, qualifications, etc. for each job type
-
Annual Basic Pay only is being compared and the data does not consider any non-pay benefits
-
There is no way of knowing how representative the data is in terms of the wider commercial sector. For these reasons, the comparative data should be viewed as illustrative only.
