Family Support Worker

Family Support Worker required to work with vulnerable families.  

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • To engage in multi-disciplinary teamwork in assessing the needs of children and families 
  • To plan, implement  and evaluate Family Support Work with children and families 
  • To incorporate Family Support practice into assessments and intervention programmes
  • To document assessments and interventions in line with professional guidelines 
  • To present reports and ongoing reviews to colleagues and other agencies when required.
  • To keep informed of on-going developments in relation to Child Protection and Welfare, alternative care and Prevention, Partnership and Family Support (PPFS)
  • To participate in the Meitheal process and where appropriate be the Lead Practitioner 
  • To maintain appropriate records, reports and statistics as required 
  • To present reports and on-going reviews to colleagues and other agencies as required 
  • To participate in training and professional development as agreed with the Project Leader 
  • To carry out any other duties that may be assigned by the Project Leader and BOM 

Health & Safety

  • Comply with and contribute to the development of policies, procedures, guidelines and safe professional practice and adhere to relevant legislation, regulations and standards.
  • Have a working knowledge of the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) Standards as they apply to the service for example National Standards for Child Protection and Care and comply with associated Tusla – Child and Family Agency protocols for implementing and maintaining these standards as appropriate to the role.

  Family Support Worker- Fulltime post (39 hours)

Some flexibility with hours required (evenings and some weekends)

This post is funded by ABC Grangegorman and managed by Aosóg and Step by Step

Qualifications:

Qualification in Social Care/ Community Work or a related area of study. Minimum Level 7

Experience:

Minimum of 2 years’ work experience working with vulnerable and hard to reach families.

Experience of interagency work, Meitheal and Child Protection procedures.

Empathy and understanding of complex family situations

Desirable: A passion for change and social equality, ability to work as part of a team, excellent communication skills, an ability to work creatively with parents and families and a sense of fun!

Full clean driver’s license.

Excellent fluency in English language (essential).

Renumeration: Pay Scale available on request, depending on experience and qualifications
