Vetting Administrator

Processing vetting applications from those who wish to work or volunteer in the Church of Ireland or its affiliated organisations.

The Representative Church Body (RCB) has an exciting opportunity for a Vetting and AccessNI Administrator to join our team. Working within the Safeguarding Team, this person will provide a vital service across the island of Ireland processing vetting applications to ensure those who work or volunteer in our dioceses, parishes, schools and affiliated organisation (who we provide a vetting service to) are safe to do so.

The RCB provides support and advice to the Church of Ireland (COI) on both sides of the border across a range of issues including finance, legal, investment, safeguarding, education and communications. 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

(The term ‘Vetting’ is used to describe both AccessNI and Garda Vetting).

  • Processing of Garda Vetting and Access NI applications on behalf of COI primary schools, parishes, dioceses and affiliated organisations to who we provide a vetting service
  • Providing information to COI primary schools, parishes, dioceses and affiliated organisations in relation to vetting procedures
  • Dealing with queries from COI primary schools, parishes, dioceses and affiliated organisations in relation to vetting, and referring to Safeguarding Training and Vetting Coordinator as required
  • Liaising with the National Vetting Bureau and AccessNI and attending training as required
  • Adhering to data protection/retention of sensitive information relating to vetting including secure destruction of personal information in accordance with policy.

Person Specification

  • A 3rd level qualification (NVQ Level 7 equivalent or above) or equivalent experience;
  • Strong organisational and interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; 
  • Attention to detail;
  • Familiarity with standard computer packages such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Understanding of data protection, confidentiality and information sharing procedures;
  • Entitlement to work in Ireland.

Terms and Conditions

  • Competitive salary;
  • Based in Rathmines, Dublin, but some travel may be required in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.
