Clare Haven Services is a voluntary organisation committed to promoting the rights of women and children to live and grow in a peaceful non-violent home environment. We offer assistance to those experiencing domestic abuse which inhibits women making their own choices.

What is your goal? 

CHS’s vision for itself as an organisation is - That Clare Haven Services will be a transparent and accountable organisation providing high-quality services which reflect best practice in the sector and which lead to sustainable and positive life changes for those we serve.  CHS’s vision for society is – That Ireland will be a country where domestic gender-based violence has ceased to exist, where respect predominates in all households and where non-coercive means are used to resolve disagreements   

How have you been working towards it? 

We have developed a strategic plan with clear actions. We set performance indicators for ourselves in line with the needs of our stakeholders and clients. 

How has being a member of The Wheel helped? 

We utilise the webinars in training particularly on issues like Human Resource. 

How can people support you? 

Good will, do you have skills that you could offer in project management governance or professional specialisms, do you have  a platform that you could be our ambassador in wider society, do you have resources that you could be a benefactor for certain elements of work that you could champion. 

Do you have any success stories to share? 

In 2020, in the height of a pandemic 75 woman & 135 children received safe and secure refuge from our service. A further 308 women received outreach support. We did not have to reduce the capacity of our service and in fact had significant increases despite the national and international problems and restrictions.
