Midlife Women Rock Project

My name is Breeda Bermingham. I am a social entrepreneur, the founder of the Midlife Women Rock Project and Cafes (2019), a psychology and sociology graduate, and a mum of four. I am on a mission to disrupt the way menopause has been framed for decades and spotlight the opportunities, second chances, access to deep creativity, personal growth, self-actualisation, courage and confidence that are all available to us women at midlife.

Member Q&A

What is your goal?

To enable and empower women to positively and proactively manage menopause and see it as a springboard towards a very productive second half of life.

How have you been working towards it?

I have been facilitating free Midlife Women Rock Cafes since June 2019. I started in GROWhq Waterford was then invited to do a monthly cafe at Waterford Health Park until COVID-19 shut everything down in March. I then moved onto Zoom in September 2020 and have been running monthly Zooms since. When I facilitated face-to-face cafes it was Waterford women only. Having gone onto zoom I am now able to reach women in many parts of Ireland. Recently we have had women join us from Meath, Mayo, Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Kilkenny, and Clare. The vision is to reach women in every county in Ireland with this information.

How has being a member of The Wheel helped?

It has helped my organisation get established on social media platforms and understand branding.

How can people support you?

I need to get the word out that the Midlife Women Rock Project exists to support, enable and empower women through their menopause years. Menopause has been a taboo subject for decades shrouded in silence fear, shame, and denial. The living experiences of women today no longer supports this old story around menopause. It’s time to tell a new more empowering story.

Do you have any success stories to share?

Many stories/testimonials from the cafes and from the 6-week courses that I have delivered. They are on my website www.midlifewomenrockproject.com
