New Strategic Plan puts focus on legislation and a safeguarding Authority
Safeguarding Ireland has launched a new Strategic Plan running from the present time to 2025.
It is the organisation’s second Strategic Plan and the two key components of the Plan are 1) the introduction of adult safeguarding legislation in Ireland and 2) the establishment of an independent over-arching National Safeguarding Authority.
Safeguarding Ireland Chairperson Patricia Rickard-Clarke said: “The abuse, exploitation and neglect of adults is happening on a daily basis and must be confronted with urgency. Clear and unambiguous signals are needed from leaders in all organisations that adult abuse is never acceptable.”
“Safeguarding Ireland thankfully has many committed partner organisations with whom we work. Guided by our Strategic Plan we will continue to work with those organisations in the coming years in order to combat abuse, exploitation and neglect of adults and promote their human rights.”
