Training on Assisted Decision Making - May 2021
Assisted Decision Making Training May 2021
Following the success of the online pilot for the Block 1 training, the Centre for Disability Law and Policy (CDLP) is pleased to launch the full online training programme on the Assisted Decision Making (Capacity) Act 2015.
This training is primarily designed for those working with and supporting people affected by the Assisted Decision-Making (Capacity) Act, including professionals working with people with disabilities, older people and people with mental health experience. The training has been designed to focus on practical challenges in implementing the Act, and examples of promising practice from other countries which might guide Ireland’s implementation are drawn from the Centre’s vast international network and experience.
The Centre’s involvement in the development of the legislation also informs this training, and co-trainers from peer organisations of people with experience of the mental health services (Recovery Experts by Experience), slf-advocates with intellectual disabilities (National Platform of Self Advocates) and people living with dementia (Irish Dementia Working Group), will facilitate the various training sessions.
The training consists of 3 blocks and will run through the month of May. Registration is now open, dates for the 2021 programme are as follows:
- Block 1 - Understanding the Act - Tuesday, 11 May 2021
- Block 2a - Applying the Act to Health and Social Care Professionals - Friday, 14 May 2021
