BUMBLEance Driver

BUMBLEance Children’s Ambulance Service, a registered non-profit charity, is looking for a dedicated individual to join our Cork based team as a Driver.

BUMBLEance Driver 

Part-time 2 Days pw (Approx 20hrs) Mon-Fri with flexibility for occasional weekends 

Location: Cork Based Vehicle - National Transportation 

Requirement: Garda Vetting prior to offer of employment 

Requirement: C1 Driving Licence / Over 25yrs Company

BUMBLEance Children’s Ambulance Service, a vital part of The Saoirse Foundation, a registered non-profit charity, is looking for a dedicated individual to join our Cork based team. We provide free safe and comfortable transportation for Ireland’s youngest patients, ensuring their wellbeing during non-emergency transfers between their homes and medical facilities nationwide.

The post is a transport-only service with no medical intervention provision.

Application Details

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Drive and maintain our vehicles to the highest standards.
  • Ensure safe operation of the vehicle, following Road Safety Authority Regulations and Traffic laws.
  • Ensure correct provisions are in place prior to transfer by checking paperwork.
  • Submit detailed and accurate journey reports.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Undertake ongoing training as required.
  • Adhere to hygiene regulations.
  • Maintain stock of on-board supplies and equipment in safe, working order.
  • Keep the vehicle clean, tidy, and roadworthy, report defects immediately.
  • Support Charity activities in education and public relations work (PR).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Key Skills and Competencies:

  • Hold a clean C1 driving licence with an excellent driving record.
  • Previous experience in the healthcare industry and/or patient transport is advantageous but not essential.
  • Effective communication in English, both written and verbal.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to use your own initiative.
  • Can remain calm in high-pressure situations.
  • Dependable with high personal integrity.
  • Have good general technology skills.
  • Possess attentive listening skills, genuine, non-judgemental, and respectful qualities with the ability to demonstrate warmth and empathy towards patients and their families.
  • Over 25 years old (insurance deems you must be over 25 to drive our ambulances).
  • Flexible approach to work and working hours.
  • Maintain reasonable physical well-being.

Role is subject to satisfactory references from 2 persons and Garda Vetting. 

First round interviews will be conducted via video/phone call. Second round will be in-person in our Tralee or Dublin office.
