Annual Salary: €34,000 (increasing to €36,000 after probation)
Threshold seeks a dedicated individual to join their team as a
Housing Advisor. This role supports individuals and families at risk of homelessness; you’ll be an essential part of a team that provides advice and advocacy, helping clients find sustainable solutions to their housing challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide housing advice on options, rights, and responsibilities through various communication platforms, including in-person, phone, email, webchat, and video consultations, with a trauma-informed, person-centred approach.
- Negotiate with landlords, letting agents, and statutory bodies to secure housing solutions, escalating cases as necessary.
- Support clients with cases to the Residential Tenancies Board (RTB) and the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC).
- Build and maintain strong interagency relationships, ensuring clients access all essential services.
- Manage and maintain detailed client records in Threshold’s database, with timely follow-up on caseloads.
- Identify recurring issues to inform Threshold’s policy, research, and advocacy work.
- Stay up-to-date on housing legislation and practices; participate in training and professional development.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
The successful candidate should embody Threshold’s values of social justice, demonstrating empathy and a non-judgmental approach. Key qualifications and skills include:
- A third-level degree in Law, Social Care, Sociology, or Social Policy (QQI-approved), or equivalent experience in housing or a related field.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills, with the ability to show resilience and empathy in client support.
- Proficiency in writing, IT, research, Excel, report writing, and the application of theory to practice.
- Prior experience in advice, support, and advocacy is advantageous.
Position Details:
- Full-time, permanent role, with a 6-month probationary period.
