Community & Events Fundraiser – Dublin Leinster

Core Purpose of the Role

This role presents an exciting opportunity for a highly enthusiastic, proactive, and organised individual to join the team. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving and implementing our community fundraising through meaningful activities, building strong community relationships, online and offline.

The successful candidate will be confident and capable of working on their own initiative and working towards set fundraising targets. They will have a passion for the cause and for fundraising, coming up with new and creative ways to engage donors in the community. This role offers someone with a creative mind a fantastic opportunity to build events from the ground up, to work on tried and tested events and to look at innovative ways to fundraise within communities both in person and online. 

Role Specification

  • Promote the Dublin City Marathon and other Marathons to warm and cold contacts through email marketing and social media. Be the point of contact to manage these sign ups and ensure they are looked after while communicating with our ticket suppliers and ensuring we reach annual target.
  • Proactively secure community fundraising by hosting in person or digital events / challenges. (supported by your manager). 
  • Engage with smaller marathons and physical activities to recruit fundraisers.
  • During our Christmas campaign ‘Holly’ – attend Holly days throughout December where you will guide TY students on how to fundraise and support them throughout the day. Cash handling and organising Holly pins, boxes etc to and from locations. 
  • Email marketing. Writing content and contacting warm and cold lists via email, mailchimp and mailmerge. 
  • Coin: The successful candidate will do one full day of collecting Coin every week. We have Coin in stores across Leinster and the person in this role will need to choose a route from our list (e.g Dublin 1 or Kildare) and spend the working day driving store to store collecting and swapping them out. Therefore, applicants require a full, clean drivers license and must be a confident driver. We do have a small company van to use if you do not wish / have your own car.
  • Writing and sending onboarding emails for campaigns (to keep engagement high with fundraisers).
  • Attending 15-20 concerts during the summer months. Managing fundraising volunteers on the day, selling ponchos and manging the event in a professional manner. (concerts are in Royal Kilmainham Hospital, EP, Fairview, Marley Park, Malahide Castle, Croke Park, Aviva, etc)
  • Supporting our Breakfast Campaign through content writing, outreach, email marketing, supporting schools, clubs and creches throughout the campaign. 
  • Looking after ad hoc community fundraising activities that come in from the public. 
  • Development of pitches and talks to secure fundraising opportunities with local events, sports clubs, colleges and other fundraising opportunities
  • Championing ISPCC throughout the community ensuring all individuals wishing to fundraise in the community, receive excellent supporter care, ensuring a high level of stewardship to maximise engagement and income.
  • Focus on recruiting and managing fundraising volunteers for the calendar of events, in particular during our busy summer concert series.
  • Support in the creation and implementation of community fundraising supporter journeys in collaboration with other departments.
  • Focusing on key accounts in the region, manage the collection of cash within fundraising events in line with the Fundraising and Cash Handling procedures as part of the overall community work.
  • Work closely with regional colleagues as well as the overall fundraising team to build relationships with supporters and support with fundraising activities as required.
  • Work closely with the overall fundraising team in as well as interdepartmentally and contribute to the achievement of the overall fundraising strategy.
  • Attend fundraising and other events as required, potentially in a wide range of locations requiring travel. This may involve some weekend and evening work.

What the breakdown of work for this role looks like:

40% Ponchos (Setting up, recruiting, organising, selling, managing volunteers and attending Ireland’s top outdoor concerts).

20% Coin (Collecting Coin from shops and replacing with empty coin collection across Leinster)

15% Dublin City Marathon (Advertising, recruiting, engaging with runners/fundraisers)

10% Holly Campaign (Setting up, recruiting, organising and instructing TY students to sell Holly pins – cash handling etc)

10% Other (Supporting other fundraising activities, admin, sending thank you letters, adding information to our CRM system, etc)

Person Specification

  • Demonstrable commitment to ISPCC values Courage, Openess, Passion and Empathy (COPE) and behaviours and the achievement of positive outcomes for children.
  • Must be highly efficient, results-focused and with keen attention to detail in all business activity.
  • Strong interpersonal and listening skills to understand and support donors and stakeholders to achieve our fundraising ambitions. 
  • An exceptional communicator, internally and externally, with proven ability of delivering impactful messages on behalf of ISPCC using traditional and digital media.
  • A positive attitude with an ability to take initiative and work independently 
  • Resilience and adaptability – to be able to handle setbacks and adapt to changing circumstances. 
  • Flexibility – willing to work flexible hours, evenings and weeks as required by fundraising activities and events. 
  • Cross Functional expertise – the person will need to be excellent and working cross functionally with a Community Based Services team, working together as a united team in schools and community in line with our Community Strategy ambitions for ISPCC. 

Essential Requirements  

  • A minimum of 1 year experience is required within the fundraising sector or in a similar position
  • Educated to degree level in a marketing, communications, business or a relevant degree is essential
  • Digital fundraising experience or experience with challenge events/ fitness activities is desirable.
  • Full Clean Divers licence is essential and a confident driver. (There is a good deal of driving within this role in our small company van to transport ponchos to events, Holly pins to events and to collect our Coin – please only apply if you are comfortable driving).
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of people. 
  • A team player with an open and flexible attitude 
  • IT proficiency in Excel, SharePoint, Word, fundraising CRM (Raisers Edge).
  • Strong alignment with the ISPCC values
