The Organisation
This is an extremely exciting opportunity to work for Ireland’s leading cancer charity to build a future where no-one dies from cancer and everyone affected by the disease has access to world-class treatment, care and support. The Society makes an impact for people affected by cancer every day: investing in lifesaving and life-changing research; providing practical, financial and emotional supports; and advocating for improvements in public services and supports. The Society raised almost €26 million in 2024 through fundraising campaigns, donations, legacies and charity shop sales.
The Role
The Director of Fundraising and Marketing is a strategic leader within the Society, reporting directly to the CEO. They will serve as a member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) with collective responsibility for the Society’s strategic delivery. The overall purpose of the role is to lead the Society’s fundraising, retail and brand/marketing departments to ensure sustainable income growth and continued development of the Society’s brand.
The Director of Fundraising and Marketing will use their considerable fundraising expertise to drive income growth for the Society. They will be the brand custodian across all facets of the organisation and work closely with the Communications team to ensure an overall holistic brand voice and image. They will also work collaboratively with their other ELT colleagues and management to optimise fundraising opportunities. They will have exceptional leadership capabilities, inspiring others around the Society’s vision and mission. They will use this to influence people around them to achieve extraordinary performance and to influence key stakeholders.
The Person
The successful candidate will have significant fundraising and marketing leadership experience in a complex not-for-profit environment, with a proven track-record in high-value income generation. They will be a results-focused and target-driven Executive leader, with commercial and financial acumen. They will have proven team leadership and motivational skills and a high degree of emotional intelligence. They will be an exceptional communicator and negotiator, with an innovative mindset.
