Job Description : Major Gift Officer (Individual & Corporate) 

Role Purpose 

The Major Gift Officer will play a pivotal role in driving transformational philanthropy for St. James's Hospital Foundation. This role focuses on cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding high-value relationships with individuals and corporate partners to deliver impactful funding for hospital initiatives. With a supportive team, expert board, and renewed engagement with the hospital, this is a prime opportunity to make a significant impact on healthcare in Ireland. 

Key Objectives 

  • Achieve annual income targets from major donors and corporate partnerships. 
  • Build and manage a robust pipeline of prospects using the new CRM system. 
  • Develop and execute tailored engagement plans for donors and corporate partners. 
  • Partner with the Director of Development, Board and hospital leadership to advance high-value relationships. 
  • Deliver best-in-class stewardship to ensure continued donor loyalty and support. 
  • Key Responsibilities 
  • Identify and qualify a portfolio of major donor and corporate prospects. 
  • Develop personalised cultivation and solicitation strategies for each prospect. 
  • Lead donor meetings, proposals, and presentations in collaboration with senior leaders. 
  • Organise and support cultivation events to engage potential and existing donors. 
  • Work with the Foundation and hospital teams to align funding opportunities with donor interests. 
  • Ensure exceptional stewardship by delivering impact reports and tailored communications. 
  • Stay informed about trends in philanthropy and corporate social responsibility. 

The Ideal Candidate 

  • Proven experience in major gift fundraising or high-level business development. 
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship management skills. 
  • Strong ability to articulate complex projects into compelling donor propositions. 
  • Confident public speaker with experience presenting to senior stakeholders. 
  • Results-driven with a focus on achieving ambitious income targets. 
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and adaptable to a dynamic, growing team. 
  • Genuine interest in healthcare and the mission of St. James's Hospital.
