Job Description 

Project Worker/Link Worker 

Treo Port Lairge CLG provides a community-based programme that addresses the needs of young adults who have demonstrated offending behaviour. Some are at risk of further criminal involvement arising from their behaviour and associations, others are on probation or have served custodial sentences. 

The project endeavours to positively challenge offending behaviour through the provision of a structured and supportive mentoring and guidance programme. It aims to maximise the young adults’ access to appropriate and useful training, education and development programmes through mediating and negotiating with existing responses where appropriate and through the design and implementation of initiatives where no current relevant provision exists. 

The project offers a model of engagement to participants, which meets the young person where he or she is at when first contact is made. 

Terms and Conditions: 

Location: Unit 2 Block 4, Lacken Road Business Park, KIlbarry, Waterford.

 Accountable to: CEO 

Hours: 37.5 hours per week. This position requires some flexible working hours with occasional evening and weekend work. 

Salary: 11 Point Scale. 

Annual Leave: 23 Days per annum 

Duration: Yearly contract with an initial 6-month Probation period.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

Direct Work With Service Users 

a) Build relationships with each person who uses Treo service 

b) To support people referred by making each aware of supports available i.e. Substance Misuse, Homelessness, Physical and Mental Health, Legal, Medical, and Financial. 

c) Work with each participant to develop and follow through on their own Individual Action Plan. d) Liaising and advocating with other service providers to meet the needs of service users. e) Case Management and Key-working of Individuals 

f) Facilitation of one-to-one, group work, and issue-based work with service users. 

g) Linking participants with relevant progression opportunities i.e. education, training and employment. 

h) Design and delivery of training programmes within the Centre as appropriate. Research and access outside trainers when required. 

i) Liaise with the referral agents, predominantly Probation Officers regularly to update and review participant’s progression. 

j) Supervision and support of participants that engage with our service. 

Management of Resources 

a) To maximise and integrate the use of existing resources to the benefit of the target group. b) To research and access additional resources to deliver specific initiatives. 

c) To support the coordination of sessional tutors and counselors within and outside the center. d) Sourcing of additional funding to add additionality to Treo’s programmes. 

d) General premises cleaning and upkeep.

 

Recording, Evaluation, Monitoring & Representation. 

a) Office Administration, participant recording, funding applications, reporting to funders and updating reporting systems. 

b) Use of the Outcome Star system and Probation Service portal. 

c) Funding applications and progress reports to funders. 

d) Presentation of operational reports to the CEO at specified regular intervals. e) Devise and update systems for review and evaluation of effort and impacts.

 f) Support in drafting of business plans and annual reports. 

g) Contribute to overseeing and implementing crime awareness behavioural change and educational programmes. 

h) The Project/Link Worker will be expected to represent Treo on various steering groups/Sub-committees and attend seminars as directed by CEO

This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to be part of an experienced and dedicated multi-disciplinary team. The Project/Link Worker will have a varied and dynamic workload. The Project Worker will be expected to become proficient and develop expertise over time in a range of proven approaches i.e. Restorative Practice, Restorative Justice, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Approaches and Trauma Informed.

Applicants must possess:
A minimum of a level 7 degree in Social Science/Care or equivalent with at least 3 years post-qualification experience with a similar target client group. 
Knowledge of the Criminal Justice System. 
An ability to communicate efficacy and to bring about behavioral change. 
An understanding of the opportunities for individuals furthest away from the labour market. Possess a strong work ethic. 
Proficient with IT and have strong administration skills. Previous experience in key working and relationship building. 
Experience in funding applications and reporting to funders. 
An ability to network and link with a wide range of stakeholders. The successful candidate will also need access to a car to perform their duties.
