Introduction:
Bundoran Community Development with the support of the International Fund for Ireland (IFI), have set-up a new ‘Youth Development Project’ which is based at Bundoran Community Centre.
The W-A-Y project works intensively to support young people in communities in the South Donegal and Donegal Bay areas and in border communities, aged 16-25 years’ who are who are not in employment, education or training.
The project is currently funded by the International Fund for Ireland (IFI), under the Personal Youth Development Programme (PYDP).
The W-A-Y Project delivers real and positive individual transformation by supporting young people aged 16–25 years old through a combination of one-to-one personal development supports and group work. The project supports a small number of young people and supports them intensively.
The aim of the project is to identify, engage with and to support young people to develop personal, social and life skills that foster good relations, build confidence and resilience.
The W-A-Y Project offers an programme led and delivered by the Coordinator, which is tailored to the needs of each young person, enabling them to realise new opportunities, to undertake work experience, to develop new skills, to secure employment or to explore pathways to return to education or employability.
The Project Coordinators Role
The Youth Development Project Coordinator will report to the Board of Directors at the Centre, working with the Manager and team at the Centre.

Commissioning, offering, and delivering | Personal Development: Mapping out personal action plans and pathways Acting as a ‘point of contact,’ mentor and advisor for each person, for the lifetime of the programme.

Reporting to funders | Preparing quarterly reports to funders Preparation of financial returns Monitoring, evaluation and reporting progress on outcomes Regular meetings and engagement with the IFI’s Programme Manager |
Convening Project Steering Committee | Ensuring regular steering committee meetings are arranged and reports and recommendations prepared for submission to BCD Board. |

You should have knowledge of holistic youth service provision; have worked in Youth and/or Education/Community Sectors and have experience in the planning, development, and implementation of specific programmes for young people.
Person Specifications: This role will require a wide range of abilities and skills including:
- A relevant qualification or experience in youth work or a relevant field
- Must have previous experience of youth/community work
- A full driving licence and access to a car for work purposes.
- Proven organisational, report writing, IT skills and record keeping skills
- Ability to support young people in a confidential manner
- Ability to deliver planned group work, to organise training and support sessions
- Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
- Strong advocacy and networking skills including interpersonal and team-building skills.
- Highly motivated and committed to working as part of a team as well as on own initiative.
- The successful applicant will be expected to work flexibly, providing ‘on-call’ support as required on evenings, weekends, out-of-hours; based on responding to participant needs, particularly in times of crisis.
Ideally the successful candidate will also have:
- A proven record in delivery of Peace and Reconciliation related-youth projects.
- Experience in group facilitation, project promotion, monitoring, reporting and evaluation.
- Commitment to and understanding of working within a community organisation in an inclusive manner.
- High motivation, positive disposition, and flexible attitude in response to needs and change including a willingness to do evening and/or weekend work that may be required.
Salary: €35,000 - €37,500 (under review)
Fixed term initially – extension subject to funding.
