The Liberties Festival 2022 - Celebrating the Community
The Liberties Festival is back! Come over for a four day festival in the Liberties, the village in the city, from 1 - 4 September 2022 celebrating: Music, Culture, Environment, Old Classics, Young People, Health and Wellbeing and a Family Fun Day.
The Liberties Festival is an innovative and purpose driven community festival working with local community members and professional artists to put culture, creativity and diversity at the heart of The Liberties. The festival is delivered by two local community development projects- SICCDA & Robert Emmet CDP- as a way of supporting performers while celebrating the diverse culture of The Liberties area of Dublin 8. The festival has been running since 1970 and we are excited about the variety of acts and avenue for escapism through art that our 2022 programme provides following on from a difficult couple of years for everyone.
There have been many things we have missed the past few years during the public health emergency and the Liberties Festival has certainly been one of them!! While the impact of pandemic has made planning for a festival this year difficult, the organisers couldn’t imagine not coming together as a community and celebrating all that the Liberties is about.
So this year the organisers have decided to put together a smaller version of the festival to bring everyone together to celebrate community, dance, eat, and be merry while we gear up to be back and better than ever next year with a full festival programme!
Liberties Festival 2022 has a broader variety and amount of performances than previous years, and, as such we would appreciate if you could promote with your audiences as much as possible to ensure that the festival is well attended!
The festival still requires a number of volunteers; positions can be applied for here . Also please don’t hesitate to make contact if you feel there are other ways you can get involved.
In any case, almost all events are free to attend so please have a look at the programme and join in our community festival at some stage over the four days!
