Ag Eisteacht launches second ABLE open course in Cork
Due to high demand from practitioners across all healthcare and social care disciplines, Ag Eisteacht is holding a second open ABLE training course in Cork this May.
ABLE (Adopt a relational approach, Build, Listen and Empower) brief intervention training provides a framework and builds skills to help practitioners to engage with, ‘listen to understand’ and empower patients and clients by embedding a relational approach into their practice.
Bookings are now open for the three-day evidence-informed ABLE course which will run on 14 , 28 and 29 May at Northridge House Education Centre, Castle Road, Mahon, Cork.
Dr Maeve Hurley, founder of Ag Eisteacht, said: “Relationships matter. The quality of relationships is a key determinant of health and wellbeing. As practitioners, most of us are aware of “moments of opportunity” when patients look for support or space to share their concerns, and we would like to respond in a compassionate and appropriate manner.
“However, uncertainty over boundaries, time pressures or fear of making things worse may limit our confidence and ability to respond.
“Our training will give you the space to reflect on your skills and ability to communicate and respond more effectively to build relationships based on trust, insight and compassion, and within the boundaries of time, your role, competence and self-care.”
100% of previous participants have said they would use the skills of the brief intervention ABLE training regularly in their practice.
Early Bird tickets are available at €250 until 16 April 2019 via Eventbrite. After this, the fee will be €300. Discounts are also available for group bookings. This cost will include a certificate of attendance, a course manual and lunch.

ABLE Training is approved for CPD purposes by Social Care Ireland, NMBI, IASW, Irish College of General Practitioners, Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery at RCSI and the Department of Education.
