Remote Learning: Trauma Informed Practice Workshop

Posted on 2 Feb 2021

Date: 08, 09, 15 and 16 April 2021

Times: 09.30 - 12.30 (GMT+1) each day

The purpose of this two day remote training is to start a conversation about how trauma and adversity affects and has affected those who use the services we provide and the appropriate responses we can implement and offer; to reflect on how others’ trauma experiences may affect those of us providing services – vicarious trauma and; to examine how we, as professionals, volunteers and peer workers, can embrace a trauma informed approach, including self-care, within our practice.

This workshop will be delivered live on Zoom: The course will allow participants to interact with their trainer and other participants in a virtual classroom where, in addition to the workshop content, there will be time built in for live discussions, question & answer sessions and skills practice. The course can be accessed wherever there is an internet connection; on a desktop, tablet or even a smartphone.

Participants should have some work experience.  Suitable for: Therapists and Counsellors (please note: this is not designed for experienced therapists) and those working in Social Care, Youth and Family Care, Nursing Practitioners, Addiction Services and Homeless Agencies.

Members of The Psychological Society of Ireland and The Addiction Counsellors of Ireland can earn Learning credits/CPD points for participating in the workshop.

"I enjoyed all aspects of this course. Everything was relevant and the course notes are very useful. I can't recommend an improvement. Remote learning can be difficult to deliver and to participate in, this course was the best remote learning experience that I have had yet."

"I found the course delivery on zoom to be a very pleasant experience. I felt the facilitator was able to create a very safe space for participants despite it being on line. He was able to hold the group and read the groups' needs very well  and supported the group to reflect and share in a very safe way. Facilitator's tone of voice and his ability to name what was happening each step of the way was very reassuring".
