Allianz Donates €20,000 to Irish Charities

Allianz Insurance has donated €20,000 to Irish charities as part of an initiative to reward its customers who have gone above and beyond to help the Irish public during the COVID-19 pandemic.

As part of the initiative, Allianz asked its broker network to nominate Allianz customers who have either repurposed their businesses to help during COVID-19 or who have been heavily involved in assisting within the community throughout the crisis.

Allianz then selected 10 customers at random, with each winning a donation of €2,000 for their chosen charity.

Peter Kilcullen, Chief Customer Officer, Allianz Ireland, said: “We wanted to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of our customers within their respective communities during what has been a challenging time. It is now more important than ever to support charitable organisations, with many losing out on vital funding as a result of the pandemic.”

“We had an overwhelming response from our broker network who shared examples such as; a distillery moving from alcohol to hand sanitiser production and a catering company who went from delivering corporate lunches to donating meals to charities for distribution within the community. These examples reflect a spirit of innovation and community focus throughout the country during this difficult period. We would like to thank everyone involved for supporting this initiative and congratulate all of the successful entries.”

List of Winning Charities

• Cheeverstown - A voluntary organisation that provides a wide range of residential, respite and day services to almost 400 children and adults with an intellectual disability in Templeogue and throughout various community locations in South Dublin.
• Wexford Women’s Refuge - Service providing emergency accommodation to women and children experiencing domestic violence and to those experiencing homelessness. An Outreach service is available in New Ross, Gorey and Enniscorthy.
• St. Mary’s Day Care Centre - Provides a range of activities including meals, personal care, recreational activities and health promotion to elderly people in Kilkenny.
• The Galway Hospice Foundation - Galway Hospice Foundation provides care to patients in Galway, Mayo & Roscommon. Through events and donation they provide the best quality of life possible.
• RNLI Lifeboats Station Howth - For nearly 190 years an all-weather lifeboat has launched into Dublin Bay from Howth and the crews have been honoured with 20 awards for gallantry. Today the station operates both a Trent class lifeboat and an inshore D class lifeboat.
• Enterprise Castlerea Limited - Community based organisation which aims to promote the economic and cultural welfare of the town of Castlerea; provide educational and training facilities for the youth and elderly; set up an enterprise centre which will incorporate the head office of Enterprise Castlerea Ltd, crèche, playschool area, youth meeting rooms and games area, adult activities and social gathering rooms together with conference rooms and offices, and a place for promoting the arts.
• West Cork Rapid Response - An entirely voluntary group working in partnership with and supporting the existing HSE Emergency Medical services.
• Focus Ireland - Works with people who are homeless or are at risk of losing their homes across Ireland.
• Irish Guide Dogs - Ireland’s national charity dedicated to helping people who are vision impaired and families of children with autism to achieve improved mobility and independence.
• Cystic Fibrosis Ireland - A voluntary organisation that was set up by parents in 1963 to improve the treatment and facilities for people with Cystic Fibrosis in Ireland. CF Ireland also co-operates with medical professionals to give maximum assistance to both parents and children/adults with Cystic Fibrosis.
