Summit 2023: Save the Date and Call for Ideas
Mark your calendars for Tuesday, 23 May 2023 for The Wheel’s Summit for charities, community groups and social enterprises. The annual gathering at Croke Park is Ireland’s top conference for people working and volunteering in the community and voluntary sector. The event offers something for everyone, from CEOs and senior managers to trustees and volunteers.
As part of our continued drive to put our members at the heart of what we do, we invite you to submit your ideas to host one of the parallel sessions.
This Year’s Summit
The theme of this year’s Summit is ‘Unity & Ambition’ and we would invite members to submit proposals for parallel sessions that broadly address these themes.
Structuring Your Idea
When coming up with ideas, these questions should help guide your proposal:
- What is the issue or challenge the community, voluntary, charitable & social enterprise sector needs to address?
- Why is this important to all/most parts of the sector?
- What would the world look like if we solved it?
- What best practice models can be demonstrated?
Submitting your Idea
Please complete the form here to make a submission.
The deadline to submit ideas is Friday 27 January 2023.
Selection of your Idea
Once received the team overseeing the running of Summit 2023 will review all proposals and shortlist the ones that are strongest in addressing the theme of the Summit and have broadest applicability to the key issues facing all / most parts of the sector.
Note that with a very limited number of parallel sessions available that selection is likely to be highly competitive so we apologise in advance if your idea is not selected. Note that your ideas may spark discussion for inclusion in our events calendar at other times of the year and we may follow up with you about that.
If your idea is shortlisted then note the following:
- A member of the Summit coordinating team will be in touch to discuss further your idea
- If one or more members have submitted broadly similar proposals you may be asked to collaborate with others around the theme so that the session can be as inclusive and unified as possible
- Once the overall structure and format for the session is agreed with the Summit coordinating team then you will need to work with the coordinating team up to May 2023 to ensure successful delivery of that event.
Logistics of Your Idea
To ensure the successful delivery of your event note the following logistics:
- The Summit coordinating team will assign a contact point to work with you on your event and will remain your liaison on all matters related to the Summit
- The Summit coordinating team manage all logistics with the Summit venue
- Promotional text, speaker confirmations and speaker biographies for your session needs to be provided to your coordinating team contact point no later than 31 March 2023
- Your coordinating team contact point can help with identifying speakers if/where necessary
- The logistics of coordinating an event with 500+ attendees can evolve from time to time and we ask that people exhibit flexibility and a willingness to collaborate openly with any changes or requests.
Presenting Your Idea
On the day note the following when hosting your session:
- Your coordinating team contact point will remain your liaison on all matters related to the Summit on the day
- Your coordinating team contact point will show you to your room, show you how to work Audio Visual and/or overheads required and help you and your speakers get set up
- The Summit coordinating team will usher attendees to the parallel sessions at the appropriate times
- Attendances at parallel sessions are at the attendees’ discretion so attendee numbers may vary in each session (N.B. to have a session theme with broad appeal).
