The Wheel Appoints New Director of Development and Member Services
The Wheel, Ireland's national association of community and voluntary organisations, charities, and social enterprises, is pleased to announce the appointment of Emma Murtagh as the new Director of Development and Member Services.
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Director of Development and Member Services is a critical role within The Wheel, providing strategic leadership and direction. Emma will focus on enhancing key service offerings and programmes, including Skills, EU, and Shared Island initiatives, as well as stewarding membership and driving income generation through business development.
Commenting on her appointment, Emma said, "I am delighted to accept the position of Director of Development and Member Services. I have worked with the organisation since 2017 in various funding and member-facing roles. I look forward to bringing this experience with me to this new challenge in which I can play a more strategic role in The Wheel’s growth and in how we support our 2,400 members, and by extension the wider charity, community, and social enterprise sector in Ireland. It is a privilege to be able to support their vital work."
Emma holds a BA in English and Psychological Studies and an MA in Literature and Publishing, both from NUI Galway. Additionally, she has completed a Diploma in Leadership & Management from the UCD Professional Academy and a Certificate in Charity Law, Trusteeship and Governance from the Law Society of Ireland. Emma is also a qualified trainer and English language teacher, further enhancing her ability to lead and develop The Wheel's diverse programmes and services.
