Join Boardmatch for our 5th Annual Charity Trustee Speed-Dating in Dublin!
Working in the charity sector can be a rewarding and fulfilling vocation when we are able to spend our days contributing towards the mission and vision of our organisations and making a real impact on people’s lives.
Behind every charity in Ireland is a board that is responsible for governing the organisation and setting the direction for the running and operations. Often this high-level responsibility goes on unnoticed in the background and doesn’t affect us in the day-to-day.
If you are a professional in the charity sector in Ireland, looking to increase your leadership, strategic planning and financial management skills, and would like to gain greater insight into areas of management, governance, compliance and fundraising – why not consider taking on a voluntary role as a charity trustee?
There are organisations of all sizes and charitable interests that need reliable and enthusiastic people – just like you – to join their boards.
Boardmatch has the perfect opportunity to help you do just that – come along to our upcoming Charity Trustee Speed-Dating event where you can meet with 60 charities from Dublin and the surrounding areas and find a board role that’s right for you!
Join us on 16 October between 5:30pm - 8pm (you can arrive at any time) in CHQ Dublin, overlooking the River Liffey and George’s Dock, and get started on your board journey.
As a token of our appreciation for the work you do, we are pleased to offer a €5 discount on the ticket price to anyone working in the charity sector! Simply use code CHARITY-PROFESSIONALS when booking. Get your ticket here. This offer is available until 20th September at 5pm. Please note candidates may only avail of one discount offer per ticket.
What happens at Charity Trustee Speed-Dating?
Every participating charity will have an exhibition table where you can have conversations about their open board roles and get to know more about the mission and ethos of the organisation. This is your chance to clarify any uncertainties and get answers to the questions you might have. It's an environment created for open dialogue – all to help you make informed decisions about your next board commitment. Each charity will have two representatives present. At least one of them will be from the charity's own board, providing you with direct insights into their mission, vision and board culture.
This year, to celebrate our fifth Dublin event, we're also delighted to announce that we will have a photographer on the night taking professional headshots for FREE! A professional headshot will make an excellent addition to your Boardmatch profile, LinkedIn or anywhere else you wish to use it! And what's more, if you find a board role through this event, you will be eligible to attend Boardmatch's signature Trustee Training course for FREE, thanks to our training bursary. Trustee Training takes place online and is worth €150!
If you:
- are looking for an interesting and rewarding volunteering opportunity,
- would like to strengthen your leadership skills,
- have an interest in governance,
- are based in Dublin or the surrounding areas
then this is the perfect event for you!
Sixty charities and nonprofits from a variety of charitable backgrounds will be in attendance on the night, including Irish Therapy Dogs, The Big Idea, The Irish College of GPs, Crash Ensemble, National Maritime Museum of Ireland, Polio Survivors Ireland and many more! While our free board recruitment website is a fantastic platform for finding a board role, nothing beats going offline and meeting face to face with charities to hear more about their work, learn about the operations of the board, have all your questions answered and ultimately find the perfect role with a charity that aligns with your values and interests.

Hear from one of last year's attendees:
“Boardmatch Trustee Speed-Dating presented me with a unique opportunity to learn about the challenges, aspirations, and journey of many charities and social enterprises that I admired. On a personal level, I was looking for an area where I could use my skills to make a meaningful impact for the community of people around me. With the help of Boardmatch, I joined the boards of The Complex and GIY where both the world of art, and food sustainability are important to me.”
- Elias Darwish, Trustee of The Complex and Grow it Yourself
