Certificate in Applied Management (Human Services)

Certificate in Applied Management: €95 application fee and €2,072 tuition fees (payable in 3 instalments during the academic year. Information day and informal interviews for all applicants will take place on Oct 18th in Dublin. The online application deadline is October 16th.

We come from the sector and believe everything we do has to make a difference to people’s lives. For training to work, it must, therefore, be practical, professional, accredited and relevant but, most of all, it needs to be student-centred. It has to allow people pursue their personal and professional goals in a way that reflects the realities of their lives, where trying to balance work, life and learning is easy to say but not always easy to do.
Our approach to training – built on 25+ years of collaboration between ourselves, our students and the more than 220 organisations we work with – does this and has created a unique environment in which people can learn and work together in ways that make a real difference to our service users.
Integral to this is our approach to assessment which largely focuses on the professional challenges being faced by our students. In these you effectively collaborate with your fellow students, our tutors and industry experts to address the real world issues you face. These issues can include meeting HIQA standards, delivering more with less and working within a rapidly changing environment. This approach creates a unique opportunity to learn but also allows you to deal with issues you may otherwise neither have the time or resources to address. In this way, assessments are not something you need to do to get a qualification. They are a bridge between learning and practice that will benefit you and your service users.
Our upcoming accredited course, Certificate in Applied Management for example, has been created specifically for, and by, people working in the sector. It provides people with the practical knowledge and skills needed to supervise, lead and manage a team in the community, voluntary, disability or not-for–profit sectors. It focuses explicitly on the statutory and regulatory environment in which we all operate and also satisfies the need for a management qualification as set out in the HIQA standards.
