Create seeks Chair of Board of Trustees
Create is the national development agency for collaborative arts. Our work initiates cross-sectoral national and international partnerships which support artists and communities to co-create work of depth, ambition and excellence.
Our mission is to lead the development of collaborative arts practice by enabling artists and communities to create exceptional art together.
Create is a robust, renewed and forward-looking organisation with a collegial, collaborative team of eleven and a firm commitment to collaborative arts’ transformational power within society. The board currently has eight members including the outgoing Chair, with recent recruitment providing a strong diversity of skills, experience and backgrounds and stability of membership in the coming years.
Create now seeks a chair for this board, whose key responsibilities will be to work closely with the Director in leading the strategic direction of the organisation, maintaining regular contact with the Director on significant issues, preparing the focus and agenda of board meetings in consultation with the Director thus ensuring that the whole Board is properly informed and supported to fulfil its role and responsibilities. The chair will act as a strong representative for Create, advocating and championing its work, both nationally and internationally.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the Irish arts sector and the funding landscape, a track record of senior leadership with an understanding of management and good governance. They will have experience of developing and monitoring strategic plans, a demonstrable commitment to the values of the organisation, and excellent communication and presentation skills.
We seek a Chair who will contribute to an existing organisational ethos of collaboration and care – between and for staff, trustees, artists, partners, and other stakeholders, and demonstrate integrity in their own behaviour and in dealing with others.
Interested parties are invited to read the full information pack, and are welcome to request a conversation with either Create’s Director, Damien McGlynn, or the current Chair, Clodagh Kenny. Following these conversations, individuals can submit a short expression of interest (max. 500 words) and a CV of relevant experience. The deadline for receipt of expressions of interest is Tuesday 21st January 2025 at 17:00 GMT.
