Dublin City Council is working on a new Local Economic and Community Plan (LECP). The LECP is a statutory six-year plan containing objectives to:

1) Promote and support local and community development in Dublin City, and

2) Promote and support economic development.

The Local and Economic Community Plan is hugely important in terms of shaping our approach to economic and community development in the city over the next few years, and in 2022 the council agreed a motion that we would embed the principles of ‘Doughnut Economics’ into the plan, following in the footsteps of Amsterdam, Portland, Copenhagen and other cities now now using ‘Doughnut thinking’ to tackle inequality and guide their cities towards sustainable futures.

We want Dublin to be home to thriving communities in a thriving city, and this plan is our roadmap to achieving that in a way that respects our environment, supports our climate goals, and ensures every citizen has access to the things they need to live a good live. So we want to know what that means to you, what matters to your community, and what actions we need to prioritise to deliver that.

Join us on 13 January, at a city centre location, as we 'step into the Doughnut', examining the LECP's High Level Goals through the lens of Doughnut Economics, and workshopping the actions and objectives that can help us draft a roadmap for both prosperity and wellbeing - a plan for the city’s economic development which leads to the best possible outcomes for our communities.
