The Heart of Frontline Practice: Touchpoint Series, 17 Oct
The collaborators of the Heart of Frontline Practice Alliance: Dr Maeve Hurley, Dr Nicola O’Sullivan and SHEP warmly invite you to the next session in their ‘Touchpoint Series’. The inclusive event will take place on Tuesday 17 October between 11am – 1pm online.
The event will be hosted by Dr Nicola O'Sullivan, and one of the three collaborators behind the Heart of Frontline Practice.
Dr Sylvia Smith will facilitate a two hour, online session surrounding her experience in health and social care; 'Relationship-based practice in social work and social care management'.
Dr Sylvia Smith - teaches on the Masters and Doctorate in Social Work programs and Supervises Doctoral Students. She is Course Lead for the PGDip/PGCert ‘Multidisciplinary Practice in Health and Social Care Course in the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust. Sylvia qualified as a Social Worker over 35yrs ago and has been an educator for almost as long. She has held frontline, senior practitioner, and management/leadership roles within the statutory, voluntary, and private sectors. Her practice areas include youth & community work, frontline child protection, independent social work practice, complex children & family’s assessments – court expert, mental health, looked after children, fostering & adoption, and unaccompanied minors. Her practice is informed by psycho social, systemic and relationship based approaches. Her professional/research interests include; anti-racist social work practice, trauma and impact of racism, compassionate leadership/management and organisational dynamics.
Sylvia hosts a popular podcast ‘Social Workers Matter’ where she interviews colleagues from a range of backgrounds and experts by experience of the services we provide.
We hope that you can take two hours out of your daily routine work to join us for this nourishing and inspiring session on Tuesday 17th October 2023 from 11am – 1pm with Sylvia Smith who will share her wonderful wisdom and insight. Places are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment.
