Irish Social Policy Association Child Poverty Seminar, 10 Apr
The Irish Social Policy Association is delighted to host an evening, in-person seminar on Wednesday, 10 April from 6.30pm to 8.30pm on the topic of child poverty, which is being held in the Carmelite Community Centre, Aungier Street, Dublin D02 T258.
Three guest speaker will give different perspectives on child poverty:
- Dr Anna Visser, Principal Officer at the Department of the Taoiseach’s new Child Poverty and Well-being Programme Office will speak about the work of that unit.
- Dr Barra Roantree, Assistant Professor in Economics at Trinity College Dublin, will give an overview of the poverty statistics and will also speak about his proposal (with Karina Doorley) of a means-tested second tier child benefit payment as a measure to reduce child poverty.
- Dr Naomi Feely, Senior Research and Policy Manager at the Children’s Rights Alliance, will give an advocacy perspective.
Attendance at the seminar is free-of-charge to members of the Association, and non-members are welcome to attend for a fee of €5. Alternatively, non-members are welcome to join the association on the night. (Membership is €30 a year, unwaged €10).
