Irish Wheelchair Association’s Ability programme Inviting Jobseekers
Providing holistic, person-centred Coaching to enable a person to become an independent jobseeker or employee. Funded by the Dormant Accounts Fund and administered through Pobal, Ability is an employability and job-seeking skills programme for people aged 18 and over with a physical disability who want to get closer to work and progress on their career journey.
Participants will have access to a range of areas such as:
- Coaching is a process that supports and empowers people to get to where they want to be and to achieve the outcomes they want in their life and their career. A person-centred approach will be used to support each Ability Programme participant. A detailed career progression plan will be developed with the aim of bringing people closer to the labour market and ultimately supporting people gaining meaningful employment.
- Ability Connect: Sessions where participants meet each other and discuss interesting topics such as Social Inclusion, Social Connectedness, Benefits of working, Motivation Techniques.
- Employability Skills Training: Workshops and support with completing CV and cover letter, job interview skills and preparation training, job interview practice, approaching employers, job-searching training.
- Personal Development Training: Self Confidence Skills, Goal Setting, Motivation skills.
- Employer and Participant Employment Support: Support and coaching for the participant starting in the new job or work placement. On entering employment, participants will receive check ins from their Job Coach. Job Coach provides continued support and follow up meetings with both participant and employer.
