The Ireland Chapter of Project Management Institute (PMI) today announces the winners of this year’s National Project Awards, in association with PwC. The winners of the 2023 National Project Awards were announced at a black-tie event in PwC’s Dublin office on Thursday, 9th November.

These prestigious awards recognise the contribution of project management to Ireland’s success both nationally and internationally, celebrating the best in innovation and talent in this area.

From the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to making a significant social impact, this year’s event acknowledged excellence in project management across industries including the public sector, construction, pharmaceuticals, financial services and manufacturing.

As well as organisations excelling in project management, the awards also serve to honour individuals who have demonstrated exceptional skill, dedication and success in their field and across projects.

This year, there was also a special category award – the ‘Innovation in Technology Award’, sponsored by PwC. It was created to recognise the outstanding delivery of technology in project management across Ireland.

Out of all of the nominations and following careful consideration by an independent judging panel*, the Ireland Chapter of PMI and PwC are delighted to announce this year’s winners:

  • PMO of the Year – Boston Scientific Galway Equipment Engineering PMO
  • Project Management for Social Good – Supporting 500+ Migrants in Galway - Migrant Collective Galway / AMDAF.
  • Private Sector Project of the Year – AIB Life - Saol Assurance DAC.
  • Public Sector Project of the Year – The Republic of Ireland Retail Hub Relocation Project - ESB Networks / NIE Networks.
  • Project Professional of the Year – James Louttit.
  • Innovation in Technology Category – LiDAR Survey & Modelling Methodology - National Broadband Ireland.

Speaking about the awards, Jackie Fagan, President of the Ireland Chapter of PMI, said: “The much-anticipated conclusion to this year’s awards programme has arrived and we are absolutely thrilled to celebrate all of the winners. It’s particularly special as this year marks the 25th Anniversary of our Chapter, signifying a quarter-century of commitment to excellence in project management. More than that, the calibre of projects that we saw this year was outstanding and signifies a level of innovation that is truly inspirational.”

Keiran Barbalich Partner in PwC, Portfolio and Programme Management Practice Lead in Ireland, added: “We are delighted to sponsor the National Project Management Institute (PMI) Awards again this year, now for seven years running, and also to sponsor the Special Category Award this year of ‘Innovation in Technology’.  PwC’s 2023 CEO survey revealed, earlier this year, that 40% of CEOs believe that their organisation will not be economically viable in ten years’ time if they do not transform. Delivering projects and change through, and with, innovation and technology are at the heart of this. Over the past year, we have seen some truly exceptional projects making a difference in their organisations, in the wider economy and society. We commend each and every one of the finalists and a huge congratulations to the winners.”
